Launching a Joint Business to Support Drug Discovery and Diagnostics Development
VHH antibodies are single-domain antibodies which derive from the variable region of the special heavy-chain antibodies possessed by camelids. Since the molecular weight of VHH antibodies is about 1/10 of that of conventional IgG antibodies, they can be mass-produced with microorganisms at low cost. They are also highly resistant to high temperature, denaturing agents, and changes in pH, making them suitable for use in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and biosensors. In 2023, we started a joint venture with RePHAGEN Co., Ltd., a start-up company from the University of the Ryukyus. We provide one-stop contract services from screening to manufacturing, by utilizing both RePHAGEN’s proprietary VHH phage library and in vitro evolution technology, and our cultural technology developed over many years.

CDR3 Preservation Method
A library is constructed by randomly linking antigen-specific CDR3 region genes to CDR1_2 region genes with 1 billion diversity, and then clones with improved performance are selected. -
